Heatwave 2024

June 28th – July 3rd

Trip Details

June 28th – July 3rd – Wildwood, New Jersey

Trips add immense value to the lives of the students who participate. They cultivate friendships, invite adventure, and bring about discussion that engages kids to think deeper about life, purpose, and Jesus. Trips fill kids with excitement and curiosity and connect them with reality. These shared experiences create and deepen friendship with their peers and loving trust with their leaders adding more resources to help guide them through life

Location & Community

Heatwave is produced by Youth For Christ and is held annually at the Wildwoods Convention Center, a state-of-the-art facility located on the famous Wildwood Boardwalk directly overlooking the ocean.

We strongly believe in the power of community, and the entire weekend is structured around building relationships and creating meaningful conversations with those you are staying with.  When you register, you will be given an opportunity to request specific roommates, and we will do everything to accommodate these.  But, as the great English philosopher Mick Jagger once quoted, “You can’t always get what you want.”

Cost: $460

Registration must be submitted with at least a $50 nonrefundable deposit.  Fundraising opportunities and scholarships are available. Please contact your Campus Life Director for more information

Cost Includes

Transportation, hotel accommodations, Heatwave T-Shirt, beach & field sports tournaments, admission to all general sessions, boardwalk challenges, small group breakouts and whatever else we can dream up. The cost does not include food, but it does include the motel.

Briefing Meeting

Every student attending Heatwave is required to attend one of the trip briefing meetings with a parent or guardian.  During these meetings, we will review important details such as travel information, rules & expectations, what to pack, food, etc. If a student or parent is unable to attend one of the briefing meetings, the family is responsible for making arrangements with their Campus Life director.

An email reminder with dates and locations will be sent to registrants to RSVP

Travel Information

Travel information (departure and arrival times and locations) will be posted here as the trip date gets closer!

Packing List

This obviously isn’t a complete list, but it’s a great place to get started. You are permitted one suitcase & one smaller carry on bag.

General

  • Money for meals and souveniers. Most ATM’s along the boardwalk charge a service fee.
  • Extra towels for the beach (You do not need towels or linens for the motel).
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • More sunscreen
  • Cell phone charger. One person in each room may want to bring a plug strip.
  • Drawstring bag (or similar) for going to the beach
  • Medication – Must be in the original container

Toiletries

  • Shampoo & conditioner
  • Toothpaste, toothbrush, floss
  • Soap or body wash
  • Facial cleansers
  • Razor
  • Deodorant (Be kind, other people have to smell you).
  • Brush or comb
  • Hair dryer
  • Sunscreen

Clothing

  • Swimsuit
  • One nicer outfit for dress-up night
  • Comfortable shoes & sandals
  • Pajamas
  • Undergarments
  • Jacket, windbreaker, sweatshirt, pants (the ocean breeze makes things cooler in the evening)
  • Sunscreen

Other Considerations

  • Students are responsible for keeping and self-administering their own prescription medications and any OTC they bring with them. Upon request, we will have our trip nurse administer your child’s medication. Also, any prescriptions that are considered a controlled substance (ex: Adderall), may be collected and administered by the trip nurse.
  • Do not keep all of your money in one place.
  • If you just bought a brand new cellphone, it will get lost or broken. Murphy’s law, happens at least once every year.
  • There is a coin laundry facility at the motel, but who wants to do laundry at the beach?

Did we mention sunscreen….?
